The following are the applications that I think would be needed for each user email (kmail / evolution) Browsing (Mozilla / Konqueror) Office app (OpenOffice) To provide good or decent performance - 1. What are the minimum specifications for each workstation - how much RAM, processor speed, etc - will a 486 16M do or do I need P2's 128M? 2. Server specs - How many workstations can a server handle. I know it is dependent on the server processor, memory, hard drive speeds, but some sort of idea would help. For example a P4 1GHz, 256MB would provide enough for 8 workstations... Any way to figure this out before actually doing it? 3. Network limitations - would a 100MB network connection be OK for 20 workstations on the same switch, or does one have to use separate switches and VLAN's? 4. Has anyone actually done this for a group of 20 - 30 users? Any gotchas? Any other thoughts on hardware requirements? Thanks Martin
