I am running an LTSP system with terminals that range from Pentium 65s to Pentium 233s. They all run equally well -- the P-233 is just slightly faster. The older P65 - P100 terminals with older video cards have trouble with 1024x768 at 16-bit color (some have to run at 15-bit or 8 bit). Although systems seem to work fine with 16 Mbs of RAM, they do crash (freeze) more often, especially with Konqueror and graphic-intense websites). Systems with 32 Mb RAM run perfectly, so I would recommend 32 Mb as a minimum. > 2. Server specs - How many workstations can a server handle. Any way to figure this out before actually doing it? Presently, I have six terminals connected to a P3 1Ghz, 256 Mb RAM, which is also running as a print/file and SMB server for three other Linux/Windows clients. Over the next month I hope to add another ten or so terminals. > 3. All my terminals are set up with old 10BaseT ISA NICs and they run at least as fast as a P3 450 running a local install of Mandrake 8.2. > 4.
