Ya know if both Mandrake and Redhat combined the best of each I would sure be happy. I am sure other distros have other great features not in either so maybe in time.......
RH 8 disabled DMA on CDROM/DVD for more compatability. You can re-enable it by adding a 'options ide-cd dma=1' line to /etc/modules.conf. (Answer #31 at http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/faq.shtml) As for MP3 playback support in XMMS, this is missing (see release notes). Guru labs threw an RPM together that quickly adds MP3 support back to RH 8. See http://www.gurulabs.com/downloads.html. Once these little annoyances were taken care of, I found RH 8 to be a really nice distro. -- Guy Davis http://www.guydavis.ca Calgary, Alberta, Canada Digitally signed by GnuPG (DSA ID 30D52F0B at www.keyserver.net) PGP Fingerprint: 8DC8 4A6F C1AD 393B 39DB CDBF 196D 31D0 30D5 2F0
