Has anybody had any success compiling KDE 3.0.5? If so, what version of
QT are you using? Mine seems to be missing some symbols required for
whatever is in the nsplugins/viewer directory in the kdebase package.

While we're on the topic (although I hope to avoid to much pointless
discussion), I am curious as to what distribution others would recommend
for use in the desktop environment. I really like Debian and it's package
management system but the GUI packages are painfully out of date. All I
really want is a properly configured and precompiled version of KDE. I
would like to avoid RedHat and similar RPM-based distributions if at all
possible simply because of their atrocious package management.

I've heard a lot of good about SuSE and Gentoo lately, and am leaning
towards trying one of those. Can anybody share any experiences with these
distributions?

Cade Cairns
