Hi Barclay, that's good news. And yes, they are using SuSE.
However, I can't really share your view of Baden Wuerttemberg (BW) being one of the most conservative provinces. BW has always shown remarkable and progressive developments. Not only are leading companies such as SAP, Daimler Benz, Porsche, Trumpf based in BW but many others have developed outstanding products using latest technology and that includes the ICT sector. Cheers, Holger. -----Original Message----- From: Barclay Hambrook ApecTec [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: November 28, 2002 9:34 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: (clug-talk) German City opts for Linux and note for Marcel CITY OPTS FOR LINUX: Linux software will replace programs made by Microsoft Corp. at government offices in Schwaebisch Hall as the German city seeks to save more than E100,000 a year. The city in the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg wants to complete the software change on its 400 personal computers by the end of 2004, the city said on its Web site. It made me think if the most conservative part of Germany is ready to embrace Linux, then Linux stands ready to spread even more rapidly. Barclay Marcel: Most probably Suse?
