you can't ... at least not in the version you have (kde 2.2.2, right?) ... you 
can, however, group your contacts into categories in KDE 3.1 (release 
imminent, in packaging right now). unfortunately, kmail doesn't show these 
groupings yet (since it still uses it's own legacy dialogs for address 
selection rather than the new ones in kabc (the kde address book library)) 
but it will in KDE 3.2 ... sorry for the bad news =/


kmail also stopped providing its own addressbook in 3.0 (it gave you the 
option of two different kmail addressbooks as well as the standard KDE 
addressbook). now it uses only the standard (vCard based) KDE addressbook, 
which is nice not only for those doing tech support (tech: "which address 
book are you using", user: "what? the one it comes with...") but also means 
that all apps are guarenteed to be sharing the addressbook (e.g. korganizer, 
kmail, knode, kpilot, etc)...
