That's what deleting kmailrc does.  It toasts (almost) all KMail's settings,
except the one thing I want it to toast, the last retrieved message index.

I just tried, as a different approach, deleting the profile via the KMail
interface, then creating it again.  That didn't help.  So I deleted it again
via the interface, and created a new profile, this time using a different
name, in case it was keyed on the name.  That didn't work either.  Tried
creating a second copy of the profile (in case it was keyed on the name it
gives the profile in kmailrc, which is "Account 1" - the new one is named
"Account 2").  Still didn't work.  I'm starting to think it's something the
server is telling it that makes it think there is nothing for it there.
