You can't rip a video source directly to DivX like that unless you have some serious hardware. Generally you would record in an low compression or uncompressed format then run a program like transcode to encode it to your favourite format such as Mpeg 2 or 4.

I wouldn't suggest capturing with XawTV either. I would look for another Video4linux capture program. I can remember what I have used in the past but it definitely wasn't XawTV.

BTW the WinTV Go is not much of a capture card even though it is supported under Linux.
