Well if you want to capture sound in stereo, you need to get at least the WinTV-Radio or WinTV-Theater cards.
You may be able to run sound through your sound card as well though so that may not be necessary if you are using only Composite and SVideo inputs. (A tuner will need stereo)
I have a ATI TV Wonder (Full Version not the VE) and it works great.
