Aaron,

What can I say. Moderation of any kind of mailing list appears to be a
mostly thankless job. I am glad that you felt that you were appreciated by
some at least. You can count me among them.

I think in all fairness, cutting out some of the more unpleasant duties you
have heaped on yourself is not such a bad idea. For those of us fortunate to
know you and count you an acquaintance, know what you do for the Linux and
Open Source community. Don't let some of the more zealous individuals on
this list ever take your enthusiasm away.

This list will undoubtedly suffer without you as a moderator but I
understand your reasons for stepping down. I agree with the things that
Barclay and Marcel have said.

I know that personally I will be ignoring more threads in the near future
but I will still be here to scoop any hints and tips that the rest of the
productive members of this list have to offer. I will also attempt to answer
any questions I think I am qualified to answer. Some of you could go a great
distance to do this same thing instead of providing us with noise to filter
out.

I put this challenge out to you all. Try to be adult when posting to this
list. To be helpful when you can and hold your fingers at bay when you feel
it necessary to chide. Try to ask relevant informed questions and please
search out answers to your problems elsewhere before hitting this list with
something trivial.

I think that in the spirit of this holiday season, we need to take a moment
to reflect that this list is geared towards helping people. Not to make
people angry or feel stupid.

Thank you Aaron.
