I just have out about 25 CDs to the students in my Webserver class at SAIT :)

The only problem is some of the stuff goes to German by default. KDE starts up German but once you switch it life seems good.

Great! I have just started playing with Knoppix and I like it a lot. I am making 40 CDs of it to give to my students next semester in a Linux course I am teaching at the Lethbridge Community College.

I was just thinking about how I could install to the hard drive. Great timing for your post. Thanks a lot.

Knoppix is great. I think it is the perfect CD to give to people that want to try Linux with no risk to their currently installed software, no install skills needed and it all fits on one easy to use CD. There are also three ogg music files that are free on the CD.

Knoppix is now my main distro. for demonstrations and free gifts.

I'm sure a lot of you now have seen/used Knoppix. It's a fantastic little distribution that runs entirely off the CD. It's based on Debian and includes all the goodies + awesome hardware detection.
I thought some might be interested in a script:

/usr/local/bin/knx-hdinstall (or something like that)

It's located on teh Knoppix CD and will install Knoppix to your harddisk complete with all the software it came with.

It's pretty slick and since Knoppix already autodetects all the H/W on bootup, what it copies over just works.

So if you like Debian but you want a really quick install...
