Actually FIPS does not support the NTFS file system. I would hope that FIPS
recognizes that your trying to resize an NTFS partition and doesn't let you
do it. If for some reason it goes ahead with the resize operation your NTFS
partition will be trashed.

I did a search on groups.google and found that opinion varies widly on FIPS
compatibility with FAT32 partitions as well. YMMV with that as well. The
FIPS website indicates that the latest version of FIPS is v2.0 and it hasn't
been updated since 1998. About the time Win98 came out and FAT32 was
introduced. Since no explicit mention is made of win98 or FAT32 I'm pretty
confident in saying that it won't work.

It should be fine. I have seen tutorials on using fips to set up a windows
(98 or Me I believe) environment ( haven't used myself) and I didn't see
anything that would cause problems.

Essentially, all you are doing is setting up the partition space.
Formatting you would do with the Os that you were installing. Most
important rule about playing around with partitions or making changes to
your system is to always backup your data beforehand.

Hello:

Well I'd like to partition my hard drive non-destructively and my Linux came
with FIPS. Is FIPS good and above all safe on an XP system?
