I'd do that only.

Ghost the partition, and then restore it over top of what you already have,
but into a smaller partition.  That'll resize it for you, and it'll work
well too.  AND you'll have a backup in case it doesn't fit, or whatever.

If you want to be really paranoid, use Ghost walker/explorer to verify that
the image is good before you overwrite your working copy though.
