hrm.. i take that back. looking at the CVS tags it was imported into HEAD 
(which became 3.1) right when 3.0 was branched off. so this is indeed its 
first release as part of kdebase.

yes, KDE sucks at promoting its new/cool/useful features. =/ perhaps someone 
should write up a "10 cool things in 3.1" article and post it online....
