Tks.
   I will look into this.

You are going to have some difficulties because SAP is broadcast based, and
I suspect they'll be dropped rather than carried across the VPN.

Googling quickly, I found this. It might help, or give you a direct contact
to talk to. If you get it working, please let us know. It'd be nice to
have in our group archives.

Oh, and lastly, there used to be a project called tipxd that would help you
here. I'm not sure if it's still running or not. It might even be
referenced in the above message.

I agree with this. Now if only I can get this done. Every
configuration that I have tried has resulted in failure to date
GRE has been recommended several times in previous posts found via
google to tunnel IPX, but I can not seem to make the connection

I do not see why this should not be doable. As far as I know you can run
GRE and IPX and IP tunnels over IPSEC. Setup IPSEC, then tunnel IPX
across the IPSEC/VPN connection.

The standard IP tools, should be able to create such tunnels no problem.
I have only ever set up GRE and IP tunnels (Not IPX) but don't see the
roadbloack to IPX.

Th choice for IPX instead of TCP/IP is actually not mine. It is an
existing Novel networ, with a current 50-60 clients that are all
configured for IPX networking. We "may" be able to change it over, but
not until next spring, when things slow down for them (by then it is to
late for this project).
IPSEC will only allow IP format over it. That is the problem. I
need to create a conversion from IPX to ip and then back at each end to
allow it to go over the IPSEC vpn (This is what I have gathered from
postings that I found via goolge on the net, but been unable to
re-create the conversion layer to work...yet..)

IPSEC will work with IPX, but never heard of anything like that, so

I am looking for some assistance in setting up an IPX tunnel over an
ipsec vpn (I am trying to do this for a local non-profit organization,
but not having much success at this time)

The ipsec vpn is working, and I have downloaded and installed gre and
ipxripd .

Both firewalls are running Mandrake 2.4 kernals
