I think more information is needed before anyone could really give you truly 
beneficial help.  All you have informed us of is :

1.  It doesn't work.
2.  His ISP is Telus.


Answers to the following questions might be useful in tracking this problem 
down.

1.  What version are you using?
2.  How are you attempting to have a connection to the internet? (ie. what do 
you do, what are your assumptions etc.)  Details are always beneficial when 
asking for help.
3.  Have you read the knoppix documentation?  If so what did it say in 
specific relation to networking?
4.  Have you searched the internet for information?  If so what did you find, 
and where?

Try googling for knoppix and networking.

I did and found plenty of information that is most likely what you are looking 
for. 


I won't get into all of the details.   I'll leave that up to you, it's out 
there on the net, and very easy to find.
