Hi I have the feeling that, you being in shaw as i am, are using the short name for maiserver (mail) , this would not work with linux. Try setting shawmail.cg.shawcable.net for pop server and shawmail.cg.shawcable.net for the smtp server. That is the proper name for them :-)
