I just wanted to say thank you all for submitting your opinions and info
regarding the adabasD product included with StarOffice6. I will pursue this
route a bit later to see what I can do with it...However though, Jesse
mentioned mdbtools. I downloaded, installed it and am playing a bit with it.

You see, at work we have this access97 database created several years ago.
People at work use it quite heavily - It is a very important database. Over
the years, we had run into issues of licensing with the newer versions of
office after 97.

We have tried at all cost, to keep users using access97, to 'access' it
using the downgrade right that Office 2k used to allow for. Now with Office
XP, no such thing. We discovered that starting with Office 2K, it attempts
to convert the 97 version to 2k.

We allowed it to do it on a copy and found out that nobody running office
97, now can see it, run it. It's that a pain or what. So we basically banned
anyone from running access 2k or access xp on the access 97 database. This
is one of those thing that make your blood boil about M$.

I've been trying to find a way to make this database available to people
using a cross-platform route. I was just thinking maybe using mdbtools,
convert that access97 database into MySql, then maybe using a PHP script
make the MySql database available using apache/mysql/php combo.

Is this dream possible you think?

Thank you all again for your input.
Rafael.
