Hi Jesse, thank you again for refering me to mdbtools. I didn't get a chance to play a whole lot with mdbtools. It seems pretty interesting to say the least. I was able to read the raw tables from the access97 database. Of course this access97 database has a wack of forms and queries, and so on and so forth. My guess is that whoever built it, used a lot of wizzards and stuff. Not only that, it's not documented, so there's no way to know what hidden in the belly of this monster.
The sad thing is that most of my users are so used to $M that they usually resist any change to linux-like apps. That's why I was thinking of the posibility of mysql/apache/php combo. However, as someone pointed out, it could be a long process and development time which I might not have either. I've come across some php scripts that when configuring them to connect and to find a mysql (this is the only sql engine I've played with), they build some sort of html interface for you. I'm tempted to go that root. The one thing I've noticed, (perhaps I haven't dug deep enough), is that there's not a whole lot of info on mdbtools - the man page maybe! Docs that come with it? What I'd like to find out is whether I can actually convert this access97 db, now that i've been able to read the raw tables into mdbtool, to mysql and then to one of those PHP scripts. Thanks again all for the info provided.
