agreed, there's nothing wrong w/choosing GNOME and putting effort into making 
it look good... on the other hand, i don't think how they've packaged KDE is 
a positive thing in the least.

no, they are just the largest. there are several that don't ship GNOME at all 
in their base packages.

the interaction between RH and the major desktop efforts is fundamentally 
different than that of SuSe's. this is not exactly a Ying and Yang situation.
