RAM will matter more than Processor. Bumping that to 128 megs of RAM would make an absolutely huge difference. Particularly with KDE/Gnome. You'll even see a pretty good benefit if you just kill any extra virtual terminals. (just comment them out from inside /etc/inittab.) You probably only need 1, 2 at the most.
