hrm... it really sounds like you're installing unofficial packages, or 
packages for the wrong OS...

in any case, at this point you're options are pretty limited... best bet is 
probably to grab the proper RPM for the rpm tools (e.g. off the installation 
cd) and use rpm2cpio to extract the contents which you will then have to 
manually copy the files to the right places... hopefully that will get rpm 
back on its feet...

from there you can then go about fixing the other problems
