It would appear I don't have gdb in my path - trying Dave Lee's suggestion 
(running "gdb kpovmodeler" at my prompt) results in "gdb: command not found"  
I've checked my .bashrc and .bash_profile files, but no path info there.  
I'll dig some more into my path though.

As for the version, it kpovmodeler appears to be version 0.2.  So I guess bugs 
should be expected yet.  When I was searching the web for this issue last 
night, I did see a couple of other reports of similar errors (not necesarily 
Gentoo specific), so I'll assume for now the package isn't quite ready for 
use yet.
