Heres a head-scratcher... Been using my Toshiba satellite-5200 laptop successfully with linux for some time. With my own kernel and the tosh-laptop-extras compiled in, the yamaha AC-XG audio works fine (actually an intel i8X0-based chipset).
I have compiled ALSA from source many times with no problems, but this time after seemingly installing flawlessly, every song (mp3) I play in XMMS goes fuzzy and speeds up at exactly 19 seconds, for 3 seconds, then go back to normal. If I fast-forward the song to 2 mins, it'll screw up at 2.19. Also with XMMS I get a couple secs of static between songs. If I play them in noatun/kaboodle, the song isnt even discernable. I have tried all sorts of things in /etc/modules.conf and /etc/modules, and have decided its over my head. Another interesting 'feature' is my boot screen output kicks out 'Alsa Driver (0.9.6) already running'. I dont know enough about devfs to mess around in there, or if that could even have anything to do with it. Any help is great! PS...Im looking for a good source-distro, any opinions? tkx -- Nick W ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Registered Linux User #324288 (http://counter.li.org) MSN Messenger: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yahoo: foolish_gambit ICQ: 303276221 Website: www.fromthecrosstothethrone.com
