Out of curiosity, I contacted Shaw support last night asking about this. What I was told is that the most users do not have access to the Modem usage. That link is only available to users that Shaw has instructed to watch their usage, sort of like a first warning. As far as the original modems being difficult to track, Shaw has no problems telling you exactly what your usage has been for almost any given time in the past. I to, have one of the old modems, and they told me exactly what my usage was (and then suggested I stop downloading ISO's for awhile ;-) )

I have never seen that link on my service pages when I log in. It shows a couple account, I switch between them both. Have reviewed all the links and even went so far as to load the page source and do a "find" in the event I was over looking something.
I can manage my emails, web services, view my online bills, view my account history (which doesn't show usage).
It appears I am not alone with regards to not seeing this page. So I have a "theory". And I'd like to know if it holds true in any fashion.
I am positive I have no link. Therefore I wonder if I have an account that can't be easily tracked. My SHAW Internet service I have had since shaw started providing internet service. I have one of their original monster beige modem from 1996-97? Anyway, my theory is that "maybe" the way shaw track uploads/downloads is by querying the modem for the information. Is it possible that bandwidth tracking may not be available for people with modems/accounts from the early shaw days, therefore they remove the link?
Its just an idea. So I'm curious. For those that see the bandwith utilization - how long have you had your present modem??
I simply know I am not blind, and that there is no such link for my account.

Go to https://secure.shaw.ca. You'll need to log in, so if you've never set this up before, be ready to give your name, Shaw account number, modem serial number, and, um, postal code I think.hmmm.... can't seem to find the link. Do you know which links I should be following?
Once you set a username and password and log in, on the main Account Services page is a link that reads "Your Modem Usage". Unfortunately, it's written in some pretty <bitter>fancy</bitter> javascript, and works great in IE, but it does not work at all in Konqueror (in fact, you can't even load that site without changing your browser identification), and it only works in Mozilla if you have "Allow web sites to open unrequested windows" enabled. There are so many ways I could rant about this, but I'm betting everyone here already knows the tune, and I don't want to offend whoever it was who admitted the other day that they worked for Shaw. ;-)
