UPDATE:

This may not be the pretty way to do it but for now I switched the boot
order in my BIOs so that it boots from Hard Drive before floppy and I get
what I assume is the LILO boot prompt. Basically a picture of a Red Hat and
the entry I placed in there for Booting. It also gives me the option to hit
ctrl+x for text mode. WHen I do that i get "boot: ". I tried entering
linux 3 here but it says no such image and that pressing {Tab} gives you a
list. I hot tab and all I get is the entry I put in. If I proceed in
non-text mode I get the same thing as I did before the flashing "matrixy
thing"...which Aaron has pointed out means my x config is screwed.

I am at a loss and don't know where to go from here. I am tempted to just
reload everything and say screw it...but the time involved... I am really
feeling stupid here and I think you can all sense my frustration. I am
almost to the point of just saying...well if I know lots of about technology
and computers and stuff and I can't do something simple like this, than why
freaking bother.
