Hey guys and gals, Im trying to put Gentoo on an older machine (P166, 64MB) and starting from stage1. The problem is that it seems to run out of memory compiling binutils while running /usr/portage/scripts/bootstrap.sh.
Summary of error msgs... ..... Out of memory: Killed process 30259 (cc1) Make[3] *** [elf32.lo] error 1 Make[3] *** waiting for unfinished jobs.... ..... Make[2] *** (All-recursive) error 1 ..... Make[1] *** (All-recursive-am) error 2 ..... Make *** [all-bfd] error 2 !!!Error: sys-devel/binutils-2.14.90.0.6-r6 failed !!!Function src_compile, line 140, exit code 2 !!!(no error message) I have my make.conf set for 2 parallel compiles, would settting that to 1 help? Any other tips are appreciated, Im trying to avoid waiting hours just to see it fail again.
