I'm not sure what the problem is here, but my guess is that reinstalling kde is the best way to go. You might want to try getting all the rpms and upgrading them with an rpm -Uvh *rpm and see what happens. Your other options are to try a different version of kde if you can find the packages, or build it from source. You could also try deleting your old kde preferences because there could be a conflict between the old ones and the new ones. I found a short article on upgrading kde in redhat 7.3 which may provide some help: http://archives.real-time.com/pipermail/kde-redhat-users/2003- October/000203.html You can also try building Garnome which would let you build the latest versions of both KDE and Gnome: http://www.gnome.org/~jdub/garnome/ Your Gnome problem should be a little bit easier to fix. The list of running applications is a panel appplet, just right-click on the panel and there will be a menu that will let you add aplets to the panel. The window list is called Window List and the MacOS style is called Window list icon. Your sessions should be saved automatically, but there is an option in the control-panel to save your current session.
