I must say good guess, it is indeed a lucent [now agere] modem. Actually the
pci bus reports it as a Toshiba but the windows drivers are supplied by
agere. Everything I know...

My system is a Toshiba Satellite 5200-801, which Toshiba reports as having a
lucent scorpio modem. Ive found many who say the pctel driver works, but if I
insmod -f it, cat /dev/modem [pointing to ttyS15, which is correct] just
returns IO Error.
