Just a quick note here that points to the joys of freedom we have in Linux_GNU. My monitor just died yesterday (bummer) but since I had already set up my machine to allow remote X on our local LAN for my son, all I had to do is go to another Linux machine in the house and run X -query <this is were I entered my computers name> The response of the remote screen is very good (fast) So at least I can get by for now, while I figure out what to do about my kaput monitor.
