I used 2 utilities in concert to migrate:

Out2Unix (web page is kinda down but the utility is still available):
http://www.active-com.de/out2unix/

Outport: http://outport.sourceforge.net/

lol, I hear ya! The interface is really not the nicest. I'll steal a
quote fr. Aaron's reply to save on posts:

I love the Unix concept of single purpose, single app because I'm a technician,
but sometimes business objectives override the technological. In this case,
the single purpose is having all pertinent and information regarding business
activities in one, visible location. I know most people just use PIM for e-mail
at home, in which case only a true nerd would be using a fully-integrated PIM
(guilty as charged!). But when I'm working, I don't want to consult 12 apps
running separately, because my business is tightly integrated between the people
I need to talk to (Contacts), correspondence with said Contacts (E-mail), places
I have to be (Calendar) and things I have to do (Tasks). I could go on
(documentation in Journal, etc.). But frankly none of the current PIM offerings
are really that robust that they centralize everything well, this side of a
database back-end and custom app interface.

So I have to say, I love the solution KDE has come up with to meet both needs
(i.e. Kontact and KDEPIM).
