did you upgrade or fresh-install ??
It's a fresh install. The SuSE splash screen wouldn't show up otherwise. ;-)
I just booted it again, and everything looks fine... I'm still completely puzzled, but I'm glad it's useable now.

if it was upgrade, then make a backup of the .kde directory in you home
directory, then delete the original .kde , then restart kde , the whole setup
would be re-created using default values. If this sounds too drastic, then
try right-clicking on the empty desktop, select configure desktop No.:4 from
the bottom ... Then select the first element on the left (appearence) and
then change the font to any other font on the first dropdown on the right,
the idea being, maybe the font file is mossing or broken. Sorry for the
hand-guided style, but i am assuming your screen is unreadable looking
at the picture ...
hand-guided is great, I couldn't read a thing the way it was before rebooting. I'm adding this to my simple fixes list.

Thanks!

Hi all,
I have a really annoying problem with SuSE 9 and KDE (I'm assuming
it's 3.1.4 since I can't read dots). The SuSE splash screen displays
fonts normally, but the desktop and menu fonts are insanely small. I
only know how to get to the font control panel right now and I've found
that if I increase the general font size to 100 (huge, normally) the
desktop and menu item things show up like they should if I set the size
to 12.
There's two questions here: (1) Why are the fonts being scaled like
this? and (2) How do I get them to show "normally"? The current
graphics card is an ATI 3D Rage 2+. I also have a picture (pretty
crappy) at http://members.shaw.ca/kkube/SuSE-fontsizes.jpg

Thanks.
