please do the world a favour and not recommend wu-ftpd to anyone ever . there are much better alternatives out there such as proftpd and pureftpd that are flexible, easy to set up and more importantly secure. wu-ftpd is one of the unholy triune of UNIX servers that were very widely deployed and that have horrible, horrible security track records. the other two being Bind and Sendmail, of course. but even stacked against those two, wu-ftpd still probably takes the cake for Worst Daemon Ever. the sooner that thing goes out of circulation the better. it's on its way out as most distros default to the newer, better ftp daemons when one is installed. let's not buck that trend ;-) - -- Aaron J.
