Hi All, Just thought I would post a quick update on my progress with the GRUB monster.
I tried the suggested courses of action (thanks all) except for swapping the hard drives. And as is turns out, all my poor 4 year old mobo needed was a good flashing. I didn't understand how exposing my naked body to my computer would help but I tried anyways. Then I realized that they meant updating it...ooooohhhhhh!! Quick trip to Asus, locating K7M and the flash utility and I was off to the races. It wasn't all success though. The BIOS NOW recognizes the presence of a hard, but only a 137 GB capacity, but I can live with that for now. A quick reinstall of Suse; with GRUB on hda (20GB) and I am now at the following stage. The Suse 9.0 Pro (thanks Katrina) environment is absolutely gorgeous. I have chosen KDE (3.1.4) for the time being and am slowly working my way through things. I will likely post a few issues out there once I have exhausted my noodle. It looks like all my hardware has been recognized but I haven't muddled through it all yet. I am going to finish installing all the software I need and then go in for the ultra-fine tuning from there. Maybe I can clean up a few things at the installfest? Thanks again everyone for the help. It looks like I can finally post a Linux success. haven;t been able to do that for awhile (when Lisa first installed Mandrake 8.2 by herself). I am hoping I can get her to switch back to Linux from WIn98, but baby steps. I am thinking getting her back on Mandrake or even Lindows. Some did offer a burnt copy of it (I think it was Dave) and I am still interested in it. Contact me off list and we can arrange something. Have a good evening all!
