and the <title> tag on vfxweb.com says "vfxweb.com For Sale" - seems odd ...

supporting the sponsers is a good thing...
i've been thinking about the upcoming installfest and here are some of my
thoughts:
installfests serve as many people's first step into the Linux world. as suck
they should be easy to get to, easy to find and easy to stumble across.
one of the beautiful things about having it at Nexus was foot traffic. it was
the common case for people to simply wander in off of 17th to see what the
heck was going on inside ;-) many of these people ended up leaving with a
better knowledge of Linux, and on several occassions people would go home or
to the office to bring back a machine.
having it at a location where there is little to no retail foot traffic is a
mistake IMHO.
having it at a post-secondary institution would be better, even, as there is
also foot traffic. AND those are generally well-known locations.
who knows where VFX Web is before going to an installfest? this just raises
the impedence to going. not to mention the travel time is increased for most
people.
this should not just about supporting our sponsors, or even finding the best
location in terms of electrical power and network. those should be secondary
concerns to the primary issue of making installfests:
o Visible
o Accessable
o Easy to find and get to
