There's nothing exclusionary about this process. This was all discussed way back
when, and now we simply do what we did last time. I think we are all open to
suggestions/change, but we know the current location has the space we need, the power
capabilities/outlets, and internet access. We used to do the installfests at Nexus
but they got to be too large and disruptive for their store (in my opinion), and we
out-grew their capabilities in terms of power/outlets.

Monthly installfests have also been discussed before and was determined that they
would not work well. If done monthly, then attendance is likely to be very low. If
done quarterly, or as needed, attendance is much higher. If only 5 people were to
show up, then the installfest probably isn't very productive for those 5. I think the
current target is to have 3 or 4 installfests a year.

Another consideration is support for our sponsors. They provide us with
service/support/discounts, usually with nothing in return. So when possible its nice
to be able to say thanks by helping them gain publicity and/or sales by hosting an
event at their locations, or inviting their presence at one of our events. I don't
think this has ever been the "deciding" factor, but should (rightfully) be part of the
decision. (Nexus and VFXWeb are both sponsors of CLUG).

My thoughts.

Shawn

Hmm, you announced that there is an install-fest, and decided details
about it. Sounds pretty exclusionary, as there was no previous discussion.

Cool, why dont we discuss a set date to have the monthly install-fest on.
