I've heard through through the grape-vine that Sonys are fairly well
supported. KDE or SuSE (can't remember which) even have widgets for
configuring some of the special keys and buttons on them. I don't know
much else about them.

I would look into that a bit more. Personally I'd look at the HP as they
are the first to make/configure a dedicated LT for Linux.

Once you have it narrowed down to a couple you like, start scouring the
web to see how successful people have been at getting them running under
your favorite distro.
