What's with XGA and SXGA? does it make a difference and is it Linux compatible?

I don't think anyone has fully answered this yet. As far as I know XGA and SXGA makes no difference as to viewing angle, but is rather a measure of native resolution:

VGA = 640x480
SVGA = 800x600
XGA = 1024x768
SXGA = 1280x1024
UXGA = 1600x1200

A "W" prefix indicates wide-screen. All of the above should work under just about any Linux setup. I've never used a wide-screen display, so I'm not sure how compatible they would be.
Just for clarification, the higher the resolution of your screen the clearer (and smaller) the image will be. You can set the resolution to _lower_ than native, but this slightly reduces image quality.
