I'd recommend switching to a different Distro.  Suse would likely be the 
easiest for you to change over to, from what I read out of this...

Otherwise, I'd advise avoiding Dell.  They're a great company, and they make 
great hardware, but they just aren't as Linux aware as someone like IBM.
