I acknowledge the fact that many people and companies who are using
Linux run it in a mixed environment. The beauty of Linux is that it can
operate inside these environments, talking seamlessly with Unix,
Windows, MacOS, etc. The fact of the matter is that we are a Linux users
group, and our presentations should be focused on allowing Linux to
function in these environments with topics such as Samba, NFS, web
servers, open file formats, etc. Our topics should not be the inverse of
that. Having said that, I doubt that any presentation given by Microsoft
would be about allowing their product to interact with Linux. We all
know how the Microsoft marketing machine works, it is designed to
maintain their monopoly, and not to allow their products to inter-
operate with competing products. We have seen this time and time again
with policies such as changing MS Office file formats, changing
filesystem standards without publishing them, using patents to stop
competitors from building competing products, etc.

sounds like a marketing campaign to discredit Linux, and encourage the
use of their products. I do not want anyone coming into CLUG and trying
to market to me, especially if they are using FUD to discredit something
that I feel strongly about. There are many forums to get information on
other operating systems, and information on how to integrate those
systems into a Linux environment, but I don't believe that CLUG should
be one of them.

Perhaps
