Did Telus indicate whether they use SMTP authorization? You may have to
enter your username (with or without the @telusplanet.net) and password to
authenticate with the mail server before it will accept anything you send. A
lot of Internet providers are locking this down to try and prevent SPAM.

There are security settings for both sending and receiving that you should
also be aware of. I had some issues setting up my Kmail under SuSE 9.2 and
where I got caught was with the "automatically detect what the mail server
supports" button. It turns out my ISP's mail server is not correctly
reporting what it supports. I had to force the settings to be something
else. I am with Nucleus so I don't think my settings would help you but I
thought you might be encountering a similar problem. It could be Kmail that
is misinterpreting the security settings (I doubt this very much).

Hope that helps Michael. BTW, Telus should be able to tell you the proper
security settings for your outgoing mail. If not then get them to escalate
your call to the next level of technical support.

Good luck!

Jarrod
