Exactly. If you need to run your own smtp server, then you should be paying
for a static ip on a business plan. This cuts down on oodles of zombie spam
bots (your neighbour's peecee) from being able to send their crud outward.
Of course recent innovations in spam crudware include finding the local
isp's smtp relay and sending via that. One would hope that the isp then has
rate limiting or dcc (body checks) to determine whether 1E6 pieces of nearly
identical "bigger boobs now" should be passed on from joe lunchpail's win95
box at home.
