Kinda late, I know, but I'll throw in a few cents here anyway.

I was moved from an old cybersyrfer modem to a new docsis about 2 months ago,
jsut before holidays. There was a DRASTIC difference in upload speeds. The
docsis was much slower.

I run a business cable modem, and my docsis was the regular type rather than
the xtreme.

When I called Shaw to discuss it, they basically said that there were no caps
on the old modems, but there are limits on the new ones. I explained my
situation (I needed the upload speed), and asked to have my old modem. They
said it would involve (yet another) static IP change, but that if I came to
their main office, I could exchange it with no problems.

The onsite techs and the guy on the phone both implied that I wasn't the first
to complain about the differences. Perhaps if I added the xtreme service it
would be faster. I'm not sure. But I know that the old modems were
drastically faster than the new ones if you just compare basic service rates.
At least that was my experience.

Kev.
