Man!!
This just hasn't been my month for technology.
I have been trying to get a KDE box ready for the workshop tomorrow. First
I tried FC2 but one of the disks has corrupt. No problem there after the
third or fourth time trying.....
Next go on to Suse pro 9. No problem... select all the packages let it auto
partition. Everything goes fine until it does its initial boot. AT that
point I get GURB and a blinking cursor...nothing...stalls there.
I attempted to go thru the rescue portion and repaur what I thought might be
the problem...bootloader on wrong partition... but.. still nothing. I am
really frustrated at this point and don't welcome trying this again, but I
don't see an option.
Anyone have any ideas? I am thinking that it is likely a boot loader issue
but I could be wrong.
If I can;t get this running I don't see much sense in going to the worjshop
tomorrow.....even though I am one of the reasons why it is actually
happening. Reason I say that is that I learn better by doing hands on as
opposed to taking notes and trying later. I always seem to miss something
then get myself in all kinds if trouble.

Cam,
If you want to learn about LINUX, then the only way is to "get into
trouble" and try to dig your way out...
Rather than doing an automatic install--mind you, I use slackware, so
take what I say with a grain of salt--do a 'manual' install; even
partition/format the drive before you do the installation. Select the
package to install manually; browse the kernel listing and 'pick' one
yourself--when it comes the time to install the bootloader, select
MBR...Make sure you wipe the drive(s) clean before your next
attempt...Make sure you format each partition in turn, including your
swap; even select the inode size 'manually'...And if it doesn't work,
try again. Sure it may be frustrating, but when it finally works your
brain will reward you with a rush of endorphins to make you 'feel good' :-)
