I'm not saying mine is even the right way. I'm just saying I love Gmail.
It's the best email client/interface I've *ever* worked with.
And I've tried AOL, Yahoo, Hotmail, TBird, OE, Outlook, even Pine!
I have learned lots of stuff actually, and, being paranoid I honestly wish that there was some sort of encryption here in Gmail. That's the only thing alot of web based email systems are lacking in my opinion. It just seems first nature in a client like Tbird.
So yeah. I'm not saying my way is the best way. Because its not. For you. But for me, Gmail is my knight in shining armor.
Warm regards,
MB

Actually, PGP (GPG) is one of the greatest things to happen to email
since....email. I think you need to spend some time looking into why the
people on this list do things the way they do. There is usually a good reason
for it. You have done a lot of "this is the way I do it, so it's the right
way" and so far, I hope you've learned a thing or two (or three).
