Depth and geometry can be changed of course. The :1 is the important one. To connect you have to specify :1 (eg. vncviewer hostname:1) Most windows clients will default to :0 so you *need* to specify :1 Also, vnc works a little differently under linux, you do not see your actual GUI workspace. It creates a new workspace, that the person using the computer does not see. There is a lot of info out there on this. A newer and better solution is NX.
