because when people cling to windows, then when they come across something
that doesn't quite work because it's non-portable and non-windows-unfriendly
they just flip over to windows instead of looking for alternatives or passing
the complaint on to the people responsible for the lack of non-windows
support.

Exactly,  I just this moment finished searching for a compatible podcast on NPR -
looking for talk/blues.  I found several stations that did that but used either windows
medial player or realplayer.  I am setup for streaming MP3.  Those others may work
but I don't want to take the time to screw around making the effort to find out.

I sent emails to the contact persons requesting streaming in that format.
