that's one thing, however if the recipient of that password then used it to 
withdraw money from your account unauthorized, that would then move to 
criminal law. With his source code you could definitely proove intent, but 
beyond that I dunno.

The other thing is if you are using reputable projects the odds of someone 
writing malware into it is slim. I don't see many criminals declaring their 
guilt in such a blatant way. 

I assert, without any evidence, OSS is less likely to contain malware.
