I have done mythtv a few times.  I will be trying out version 2 on edgy
in the next month or so.  Overall I like it.  It can take some doing to
get installed, but generally I feel it is worth it.

My roomate replaced my old media pc with a Windows MCE box.  Some things
 I like better (not having to mess around with SQL is nice, no
registering with zap2it) but in general I am not all that happy.
Setting up the TV output was a PITA (onboard video + PCI Nvidia, not
PCI-E, even still it still seems twitchy).  Never mind the 4+ hours just
to get windows and its drivers installed.

Oh, and I can no longer stream TV to my laptop, one of the best parts
about myth IMO.
