Hi Dacy,
For audio only conferences you could use a SIP client to connect to an Asterisk 
server (of your running) or one of the various free servers around the internet.

For example there is one at:
enum: +882 99 000199 (000-999) - E164 public Voice Conference Rooms (000 
through 999 are the conf numbers) 

The problem with using a free service is that you can't prevent others joining 
in.

There are other paid for services which would require you to pay and enter a 
PIN to join/start a conference.

If you want to do voice and video conference, I'm afraid I don't know of an 
open source solution. If you want to do '1 to many' video distrobution then you 
might be frig Asterisk, or you could look at the video server stuff in VLC.

Althought you don't mention it in this email, I think that you noted you'd like 
some whiteboard capability. The developement versions of InkScape (a fork of 
Sodipodi) are working on this.
